New "ticker" function available, see install requirements for your specific situation.
11/5/2002
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
The next class will be held Saturday December 14, 2002 at DePaul University. See here for details.
8/15/2002
Capital Flow 32:
IMPORTANT: When activating custom contracts in Capital Flow 32 using the File / Activate Custom function, it is important to correctly enter the Expiration Month / Year if the contract is a future. Failure to do so may make the contract roll incorrectly, or not show up in Open / Close menus with the proper name.
6/5/2002
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
There is now some information regarding the change from Steidlmayer server data to Aspen/DTN. See the page on switching from Steidlmayer to Aspen/DTN.
6/1/2002
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
Steidlmayer data servers will remain active for another few weeks while we complete the transition of all users to other feed options. More information will appear soon.
3/20/2002
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
The next software class for subscribers will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2002. See the classes page for more information.
1/26/2001
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
As of today, January 26, 2001, all NYSE stocks have converted to pennies (100ths). There will be a new version of Capital Flow 32 on the servers as of Sunday that will help facilitate the conversion. Go the File / Convert Stocks function for more information.

Capital Flow 3.7 subscribers who wish to maintain their current databases will need to apply a multiplier to the old data for each stock. Go to the Utility menu and select "Apply Multiplier to Old Data", then enter 6.25 as the "Offset".  This would need to be done for each stock, and could be somewhat tedious. It is also possible to remove all the current NYSE stocks ("Remove Multiple.." in the Contract menu), then get a History update after reactivating those stocks. The Steidlmayer Server data will be updated by Monday morning.

1/4/2001
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
JPM underwent a merge and a resulting price adjustment. In effect it amounted to a stock split of 3.7 to 1. This is an unusual value and we recommend you remove the stock, then reactive it, and pull in new data from the server.
All NYSE stocks will begin trading in 100ths (pennies) starting January 29th, 2001. It will be necessary to adjust prices of these stocks at that time, or to remove them and reactivate them which will pull in new, good data from the server.
12/4/2000
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
A number of additional stocks on the NYSE converted to pennies today. Current lists of which stocks have converted can be obtained from the NYSE web site (http://www.nyse.com).

New Conversions:  ABX, AHP, GDI, KMB, LSI, MAT, MCK, TMO

Capital Flow 32:
It is easiest just to remove the contract (File / Remove Contracts) and then to reactivate the stock using the File / Activate Stocks / Activate Stock Not in List command.
Capital Flow 3.7:
To convert tick data for a stock from 16ths to pennies, first edit the symbol and change from 16ths to 10ths (Utilities / Edit Symbol). The final step is to convert the back data. With the contract open, select the first profile of good data. Then go to the Utilities / Apply Multiplier .... menu and apply a multiplier of 6.25 to convert the data. Close and re-open the contract to verify all ticks are converted. If there are a few ticks still unconverted, it is best to edit them by hand ( Utilities / Edit Ticks).
12/1/2000
Capital Flow 32:
Ten year bonds (TY**) will be displayed in 64ths starting today. To match data correctly, first remove the contract (FILE / Remove Contracts) and then reactivate. If you have build 785 or earlier the new contract will be activated in 32nds. After you have received a data update, open the contract and right-click on the screen, select "Edit Symbol". Change the symbol settings to display in 64ths. Close the dialog, then close and reopen the contract. The ticks should display a price around 100^255, where the last digit represents a half 32nd (i.e. 64th).
9/11/2000
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
The next software class for subscribers will be held December 9, 2000 at DePaul University.
9/9/2000
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
Project A contracts on the CBOT have switched to the ACE (Alliance CBOT Eurex) exchange and some of the symbols have changed. We are currently working on merging this data with the pit contract data. We will probably have a fix sometime next week.
6/9/2000
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
The electricity for the entire Board of Trade building will be off for the weekend for maintenance. All Steidlmayer servers will be down for this period, but will be up for the open of trading on Monday.
6/7/2000
Capital Flow 32:
Veritas (VRTS) prices displaying in the $6-$8 range are incorrect. The contract should be removed (in Capflow 32 use the File / Remove Contracts from Database command). The stock can then be reactivated ( File / Activate Stocks / Activate Stock not in List command) and new accurate data should be obtained from the Steidlmayer servers.
6/6/2000
Capital Flow 32:
Some stock splits (usually cases where the split is 4 for 3 or higher) are not being caught by the auto split function of Capital Flow 32. We should have a new build on the server late tomorrow that will prompt the  user for questionable stock splits, but will still do the obvious ones automatically. The problem is the difficulty of discerning the difference between a large price move on the open and a stock split with a low ratio. Stocks that we know to have a problem currently are HPW (Hewlett Packard) and MOT (Motorolla). Users should wait for the new build to adjust these stock prices.
4/4/2000
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
Over the weekend one of the computers in the chain of our data connection jumped ahead 14 hours for as yet undetermined reasons. For this reason some contracts may show strange time periods. Most of the discrepancies have been corrected and a refresh of any data from our servers is available by selecting "Feed / Fix Bad Ticks...." in Capital Flow 3.7, and "Update / Get Refresh Data...." in Capital Flow 32. The changes should not really change the Capital Flow display if all the ticks were already present (albeit off by some element of time).
2/24/2000
Capital Flow 32 and 3.7:
Talks involving the NYBOT have resulted in our not carrying their contracts for the time being. These include Cotton, Coffee, Cocoa, Dollar Index, Sugar, and the NYSE Composite index. We are hoping to resume carrying these contracts soon - a notice will appear on this site at that time.
Capital Flow 32:
A new tick filter has been added the the new version of Capital Flow 32 on the server. Initially it runs through all the contracts and eliminates some date and value problems which had been affecting the program. This can take some time if your contracts had a number of problems, so it may be wise to update to a new program version at the end of the day.
12/23/99
Capital Flow 32:
The e-mini contract is now back updating with volume. There is a gap in the volume data of 2 or 3 days that will probably not be recovered. The prices are correct for that period. We are now off the development server which had been giving us trouble, and our data supplier indicates that this will be more reliable.
12/20/99
Capital Flow 32 and 3.72:
The e-mini contract is still having trouble updating. The data supplier for that contract moved their development server farm and has not been able to restore our connection. Hopefully when the connection returns we will be able to fill in the missing data.
12/13/99
Capital Flow 32:
The e-mini contract is still having trouble updating. We are checking out options for more reliable data with volume.
11/29/99
Capital Flow 32:
11/12/99
Capital Flow 3.71:
Users who obtain data from our dialup servers and have recently received a message about possible bad line conditions when obtaining  updates should do the following:
  • Option 1: In the Capital Flow directory (normally "C:/Capflow") delete the file "fu.cap", "fm.cap", "fh.cap", "sm.cap", "su.cap", and "sh.cap". This should fix the problem (Capital Flow was unable to write over the old versions of the files).
  • Option 2: For Windows 95, 98 or NT, go to the Start button, select Run, and type "attrib -r -h -a C:\capflow" (assuming Capital Flow runs from this directory). This should also fix the problem.
11/12/99
Capital Flow 32:
Clients who use the internet to get data for Capital Flow 32 should note that one of the server IP addresses will be being discontinued - address "209.107.87.166". This was a temporary IP from our supplier and we will no longer be using it to distribute data. If you were using this IP address (check in Settings / Communication Settings in Capital Flow 32) please change to either "209.224.160.2" or "209.224.160.9".
11/2/99
Capital Flow 32 and 3.71:
The incorrect day in our dialup servers data for 6 hours over the weekend does not affect Capital Flow with the exception of daily profiles, and so will not be changed. The data will have no effect on studies or other results produced by either version of the software.
10/31/99 and 11/1/99
Capital Flow 32 and 3.71:
It appears at this point (1:00am Monday) that our data feed is supplying data with an incorrect date (one day behind). We are waiting for confirmation from them, and for information about what steps we can take to correct the matter. More information will be posted later today.
10/27/99
Capital Flow 32 and 3.71:
The Dow 30 has dropped Sears, Chevron, Union Carbide, and Goodyear. Added were Microsoft, Home Depot, Intel, and SBC.
NETG (Netgravity on the NASDAQ) has merged with DCLK (Doubleclick) and so data is no longer available.
Capital Flow  3.71:
Disks will be sent out at the beginning of November with the year 2000 contract specifications, and a fix for the expiration of the present software (set for December 1, 1999).
10/20/99
Software Class Announcement:
The next class for software subscribers will be held in Chicago on August 28th. The class is located at DePaul University, 1 East Jackson Blvd., Room 8005. That's at the SE Corner of Jackson and State in Downtown Chicago.  Click here for a map of the class location.
10/19/99
Capital Flow 3.71 (dialup customers only):
On October 18, 1999, the server lost the data connection for a few hours from 3:30am to 8:00am. We have filled in data on some contracts that have night sessions. The contracts that now have some (minor) half hour bar prices are: CZ9, USZ9, CLX9, CLZ9, GCZ9, HGZ9, SIZ9 and SPZ9. Customers who are interested in this data can obtain it by selecting "Fix Bad Ticks/ Rerequest Market Data" from the feed menu and selecting an appropriate number of days so as to include the 18th of October.
10/15/99
Capital Flow 32:
The CME Euro (EC**) contract had some initial data problems that have since been fixed in build 602 or greater. Users should remove the contract from the database and reactivate it to eliminate the bad data.
Servers: The servers were back online today at 7:20pm after routine maintenance.
10/14/99
Servers will be down tomorrow from about 3:00pm to 8:00pm for maintenance.
Capital Flow 32:
Volume figures for the Dow (DJ**) on the CBOT are now available for the previous day. When the CBOT makes more timely updates available we will pass them on. Users will need to update to build 602 or above to see this data.
10/11/99
Capital Flow 32 only
Some updates this morning took an extremely long time (10 to 15 minutes). We rebooted the computer having the problem and are back to around 10 seconds turnaround. We are investigating the cause of this problem.
Capital Flow 3.71 only
One of the dialup machines was not updating this morning, so those customers going into that machine had problems. The two phone numbers are 312-360-9932 and 312-360-9636. This is for the 16 bit program (Capital Flow version 3.71 - don't try to use these for Capital Flow 32).
10/8/99
Capital Flow 32
The CME e-mini contract was not updating properly today and yesterday due to a connection problem with our data supplier (we get this data with volume from an experimental feed). We are now connected to a production server for this data and expect more reliable updates.
9/30/99
Capital Flow 32 and 3.71:
The CME Euro contract is now available on both Capital Flow 32 and Capital Flow 3.71. The symbol is EC** where ** is the month-year code. The contract can be added manually in Capital Flow 3.71- see the note below for instructions. For Capital Flow 32, it is necessary to download a new program version, which will be available as of tonight at around midnight. The contract will then appear in the list of futures contracts available for activation.
9/24/99
Capital Flow 3.71:
The dial-in / Internet server was not updating for a couple of hours before 8:30am CST. No data was lost and  the server is updating normally now.
The CME Euro contract is now available on Capital Flow 3.71. The contract can be added manually using the "Activate Contracts not in Symbol Database" function in the Contract menu. The parameters to use in the dialog are Symbol "EC**", where ** is the month letter and the year digit, a minimum increment of 1, and a "price scheme" of 10. Be sure to click on the "Add" button after entering the parameters.
9/20/99    Capital Flow 32:
While updating one of our servers (dialup connection or ftp at address 209.224.160.9) bad data was introduced into the 30, 10, 5, and 2 year bond contracts for one night session. To eliminate this data, use the "Get Refresh Data on Selected Contracts" and request a refresh for an adequate number of days to correct the bad ticks.
