Aspen Server Tips

There seem to be a number of idiosyncrasies of the Aspen / DTN servers relating to getting current data. There are cases when the Aspen / DTN server loses the connection to the Master server and the data no longer is current. If a particular contract stops updating from your Aspen connection, in the Aspen Graphics program with that contract displayed in a 30 minute bar chart, type ".refresh" and the Aspen / DTN server you are connected to will check with its master server to verify that the data is up to date. In most cases this will solve the problem.

If Capital Flow cannot update a particular contract, but others seem to update fine, check the Aspen Graphics program to make sure the data is available on the remote server. If now, use the above technique to force a refresh on the server.

We do not expect this to be a common problem, as the Aspen / DTN servers should normally keep the connection active.
